What Is Blood Lactate?
Lactate is a byproduct of anaerobic metabolism, the process your body uses to create energy when there's not enough oxygen available. During intense exercise your body will accumulate lactate in the blood, which will limit physical performance untimely resulting in your workout having to stop or reduce in intensity.
What happens during an assessment?
During your blood lactate test you will work out on a treadmill at a set intensity for a specified amount of time. At the end of this allotted time your practitioner will take a blood lactate sample, the assessment will continue with you working at a gradually increasing intensity between each blood sample being taken. The test will conclude once you are working at a rate above your second blood lactate level.


Why is blood lactate so important?
On conclusion of your blood lactate test, you will have all of the data you need to set training intensity zones. This will make your training smarter and more efficient then ever before. So, often people's training can plateau or decline as they aren't training within the correct intensities for their fitness levels.
